#Beethoven250 Day 14
Trio in G for Piano, Flute & Bassoon (WoO 37), 1786?

Beethoven possibly composed this trio for piano and woodwinds as late as 1792, but I like the idea that he wrote it for a family whose pianist daughter he was fond of.

In other 1786 music news, Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro” premiered. The opera was based on the incendiary 1784 play by Pierre Beaumarchais, but all the political content had to be removed. What remained was basically a sex comedy, but the most sublime sex comedy ever.
