It was once believed that Beethoven’s March in B♭ for 2 clarinets, horns, and bassoons was composed in 1807 for Prince Esterhazy (Haydn had done something similar), but it’s now thought to date from 1797–98 with obscure origin. The music was later adapted for a mechanical clock.
