#Beethoven250 Day 11
Piano Quartet in D Major (WoO 36, No. 2), 1785

I cannot find a live performance of the second of 14-year-old Beethoven’s three piano quartets, admittedly the least distinguished of the three.

The piano quartet was not an established genre in 1785, and Beethoven’s compositions seem to be some of the first ever composed. Curiously, Mozart also composed the first of his two piano quartets in 1785, but the timing is such that Beethoven would probably not have known that.
